Current Openings:

Placement Inspector:

The Concrete Placement and Batch Plant Inspector position is the gateway to a career as a special inspector. Most inspectors begin their career by earning this license. Responsibilities include monitoring placement of fresh concrete for columns, walls, slabs on grade and other members as well as inspection of batching operations at the point of supply to ensure quality of high strength concrete designs. The license is earned by attending an 7 week course (once per week for 3 hours), accumulating 80 hours of work experience across different types of projects and successfully earning the American Concrete Institute Field Technician Level I Certification. Other opportunities for class room training for additional licenses will follow once the Placement License is earned.

Special Inspector:

With a large project backlog, we anticipate a busy winter and still busier 2007. A.A.R. is looking to hire one or more multi-licensed special inspectors. Applicants should hold an appropriate combination of Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Shotcrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel, Spray Applied Fire Resistive Materials or Lateral Framing licenses. Prestressed Concrete, Structural Masonry and Structural Steel are in particularly high demand.

Resident projects, project management and field supervisory positions are possible depending on qualifications, number of, and commitment to gaining additional licenses. Please see the projects section for an example of the type of projects we service. We offer paid license renewals, testing and interview fees, classes and seminars, paid vacation and more. Wages vary with license combination.

Structural Steel Inspector / Non Destructive Testing Technician

Though our projects have shown a marked emphasis on concrete and masonry construction, there has been a significant resurgence of structural steel erection projects, brace and moment frame construction, and industrial work requiring this discipline of inspection. A.A.R. is looking to hire an additional structural steel inspector.

Applicants should at minimum hold an ICC certification in Structural Steel, or under the split licenses, Structural Welding, and High Strength Bolting, as well as the corresponding WABO certifications (or ability to acquire them as soon as possible after hiring). AWS CWI license, and ASNT Level II in MT, PT and UT highly preferred.

Soils inspectors are primarily responsible for testing of in-place density of soil and aggregate materials on jobsites. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in compaction testing, hold a current radiation safety certificate (Troxler or CPN), and be comfortable with the use of either type of nuclear density gauge. Experience with laboratory soils testing and / or ACI Laboratory Testing Technician certification highly  desirable.
